Dr. Ajay Krishna P B.A.M.S

Migraine is a neurological condition known for intense throbbing headaches, usually on one side of the head. These headaches often come with nausea, vomiting, and extreme sensitivity to light and noise. Migraine attacks can last from hours to days, and the pain can be so intense that it disrupts your daily life.

Certain individuals experience a warning sign called an “aura” before or during a migraine headache. An aura may involve visual disruptions like seeing flashes of light or blind spots. It can also include other sensations, such as tingling in one side of the face or in an arm or leg, as well as difficulties in speaking.

What Are the Symptoms of Menstrual Migraine

Migraine predominantly affects women, with its occurrence influenced by various hormonal events in a woman’s life. These events include menarche, menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause, as well as the use of hormonal contraception and hormone replacement therapy. Migraine usually starts after a woman’s first menstrual period, tends to be more frequent in the days leading up to or during menstruation, and often eases during pregnancy and menopause. These fluctuations are attributed to alterations in estrogen levels, which impact either the excitability of brain cells or the blood vessels in the brain.
